Nahanni National Park Heli-Hiking Package

This is an all-inclusive three day and two night package exploring Nahanni National Park and the Greater Nahanni ecosystem by helicopter, floatplane and jetboat. Travel by jetboat from Fort Simpson. Arrive at North Nahanni Naturalist Lodge in time for a hot meal, followed by a sauna or hot tub. Next day, explore the magnificent Ram Plateau, the Nahanni Karst region, Death Lake and the Igloo Cave by helicopter. Enjoy a tasty packed lunch atop the Ram Plateau. On day three, fly by floatplane to majestic Virginia Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy your packed lunch on a two hour stop at the falls. Then fly over the Ram Plateau, and the South Nahanni River canyons, to return to Fort Simpson.

Nahanni Winter Escape Package (mid February to mid April)

Visit the Nahanni Region in the winter and experience our most spectacular season. From Fort Simpson, fly over the magnificent Ram Plateau, South Nahanni River canyons and Virginia Falls to North Nahanni Naturalist Lodge. Learn about Dene culture and the history of the Nahanni Region. Try ice fishing, or learn to set a net under the ice. Experience our wood-fired sauna and our unique snow and ice massage.
Drive by snowmobile to Little Doctor Lake, or to Nahanni National Park. Return to Fort Simpson by air charter, or follow a trapline by snowmobile to the Mackenzie River, where you will be picked up by vehicle to return to Fort Simpson.

North Nahanni Weekend Escape

The North Nahanni Weekend Escape package includes two days and nights at the lodge. Depart Fort Simpson by air charter and arrive at the lodge for a hearty and delicious supper early Friday evening. Return to Fort Simpson late Sunday afternoon by air charter.
Full service or housekeeping options are offered. Full service includes return air charter to Fort Simpson, lodge or cabin accommodation, full housekeeping, meals and snacks and full use of lodge facilities and equipment including sauna, hot tub, canoes, boats and motors etc. Housekeeping includes private cabin accommodation for your group and does not include meals and snacks or maid service.

North Nahanni Naturalist Lodge’s Mackenzie River & North Nahanni Weekend Escape package provides an upgrade to our North Nahanni Weekend package by substituting a scenic jet boat trip for one of the air charter legs on the trip (Fort Simpson to the lodge or vice versa). Travel on the historic and majestic Mackenzie River and the scenic North Nahanni River. See the Nahanni Mountains, Moose Lookout and traditional camps and cabins along the river. Stop for photo opportunities, wildlife viewing and hikes. All other aspects of this package are the same as our North Nahanni Weekend Escape package.

North Nahanni Naturalist Lodge
North Nahanni Naturalist Lodge’s Nahanni Park Weekend packages begin with a flightseeing tour of Nahanni National Park Reserve by floatplane. The flightseeing trips are done by Cesnna 185, Cessna 206, DeHavilland Beaver or DeHavilland Twin Otter aircraft equipped with floats. The equipment chosen for the flightseeing tour depends on the number of guests in your group.
Guests can choose from one of two standard flightseeing tour options or design their own tour (please request updated pricing for this option). The two standard flightseeing tours are the Virginia Falls Day Tour (5-6 hours) and the Glacier Lake Day Tour (6-8 hours). The Virginia Falls Day Tour includes a stopover at Virginia Falls on the South Nahanni River. The Glacier Lake Day Tour includes stopovers at both Virginia Falls and Glacier Lake, a beautiful, glacier-fed, jewel of a lake located in the Ragged Range of the Mackenzie Mountains. The Ragged Range contains the highest peaks in the Northwest Territories and numerous mountain glaciers.
Depart Fort Simpson for the flightseeing tour on Friday morning and arrive at the lodge for a hearty and delicious supper on Friday evening. Spend two nights at the lodge and return to Fort Simpson late Sunday afternoon. Full service or housekeeping options are offered. Although the flightseeing tour is typically arranged for the first day of the package, the order of the tour can be reversed so that it is arranged for the final day of the package. If you believe that your group will exceed the payload of the aircraft for the tour, you can request that we reverse the order of the flightseeing tour.

Pricing for all of our packages is dependent on the number of guests in your group and it is also affected by special requests. We have a fair amount of flexibility in arranging aircraft or jet boats for our guests. For example, two small Cessnas may be substituted for a Beaver or a Twin Otter can be booked for groups larger than six at an additional cost. Groups that exceed four to six persons may also require two or more jet boats depending on the amount of gear they have. Payloads for all of the transportation options are identified in the Transportation Options and Rates section. If one of our packages does not meet your specific requirements, we would be pleased to work out some trip options and pricing for you. Trip logistics are typically finalized prior to the trip departure date.
Notes:
- You must agree to the terms and conditions on the Book Your Trip page.
- Rates are quoted in Canadian dollars. Please add 5% for goods and services tax.
- Rates are per package and are based on stated group sizes. Please request a customized quote for odd sized groups.
- Group sizes of two, four or six must have a minimum of two adults per booking. A group size of 15 must have a minimum of four adults per booking.
- Children’s Discount (Ages 5-12 years): 50% (Does not apply to air charter cost).
- No charge for children under 5 years of age.
- Senior’s Discount (Ages 60 years or older): 10%
- The air charter and jet boat charter tariffs incorporated in the pricing are all-inclusive rates based on the fuel costs that applied at the time the rates were set. A fuel surcharge may be applied to the tariffs in the event that fuel costs increase.
- We do not apply any mark-up to the cost of the flightseeing tours, air charters or third party jet boat charters incorporated in our packages. The price our guests receive is the charter company published tariff.
